Middle School exceeds goal of community service project
March 6, 2008
Park Tudor School's Middle School Student Council has more than doubled its goal of collecting 200 pairs of new shoes to provide children awaiting foster care or adoption.
The shoes were donated to The Villages, Indiana's largest therapeutic foster care provider, for distribution to the children. Park Tudor's Middle School Student Council President Jack Mitzell (8) brought the idea to the Student Council after learning about Laces of Love, a non-profit organization that provides new shoes to low-income and disadvantaged children in Florida.
The Student Council donated 402 pairs of shoes, enough to provide a pair to every child represented by The Villages. The students presented the shoes to Linda Adams, a representative from The Villages, at a Middle School assembly on February 28.
